4-star WR Blake Wong sidesteps Oregon, commits to BYU

One of the Oregon Ducks’ biggest targets out wide is headed elsewhere. Four-star wide receiver Blake Wong announced his commitment to BYU on Saturday, choosing the Cougars over Oregon, UCLA and Ohio State.
The Ducks have pursued Wong for a long time, but as the spring went along, both sides seemed to shift their focus to different places. Wong had a great official visit to Eugene earlier this month, but BYU, UCLA and Ohio State all made strong pushes as well.
The best place for Wong to play right away is at BYU, and not with the Ducks. Oregon has already wrangled in a pair of receivers in the class, including five-star Dakota Guerrant, and appears to be on the cusp of adding five-star Xavier Sabb as well.
Still, Wong is a tremendous talent that the Ducks will be missing out on. He broke out in his junior campaign at Norco High School, making 84 catches for 1,469 yards and 20 touchdowns. Wong is ranked No. 270 overall in the 2027 recruiting class and is the No. 39 wideout as well, per the Rivals Industry Ranking.

Oregon is set to go on a run this summer, with multiple commitments anticipated in the near future. However, the Ducks have missed on a couple of key targets in recent days, including four-star athlete Bode Sparrow and four-star offensive lineman Caden Moss. Fortunately, the Ducks should be getting good news soon.
Four-star tight end Anthony Cartwright III will commit tomorrow, and the Ducks are a heavy favorite for the Michigan star. On July 1, the Ducks could add an elite trio to their class, with commitments expected from Sabb, five-star corner Hayden Stepp and four-star corner Tae Walden Jr.
