Baron Corbin once again found a way to escape with the US title, using some questionable tactics to beat Trick Williams on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

Corbin put the title on the line against Williams in a rematch of their WWE SummerSlam 2026 match. Just like their first meeting, Corbin used the championship belt when the referee wasn’t looking to get the win.

The match became physical right away. Corbin took Williams down early, but Williams quickly sent the champion to the outside.

Williams chased the Champion around ringside and hit him with several chops against the barricade and ring post. He then sent Corbin crashing into the timekeeper’s area. Trick Williams followed that up by diving over the top rope and taking Corbin down again.

Baron Corbin eventually stopped the attack by driving Williams into the steel steps. He then brought the challenger back into the ring and started taking control. The United States Champion hit a clothesline and followed it with several stomps in the corner.

Corbin was still in charge and continued throwing heavy punches at the challenger. But Williams finally fought back with a big boot. He then planted Corbin with a faceplant and continued attacking him in the corner.

Williams gained even more momentum with a Death Valley Driver and looked ready to finish the match. He went for the Trick Shot, but Corbin stopped him and answered with a huge Deep Six. Williams kicked out of the pin attempt, keeping himself in the match.

The two stars continued trading punches while down on their knees before getting back to their feet and exchanging more strikes. Williams eventually knocked Corbin out of the ring, but the champion answered by driving him into the ring post.

Corbin then grabbed the US title and brought the belt into the ring. However, the referee noticed it and took the title away from him. Later, after some exchanges, Williams delivered a Trick Shot to Corbin. However, Corbin was able to survive the pinfall attempt by holding the bottom ropes.

Corbin then moved out of the ring. Williams, on the other hand, started arguing with the referee about the count. Taking advantage of the situation and with the referee distracted, Corbin picked up the United States Championship and smashed Williams in the head with it.

Corbin immediately covered Williams. The referee counted to three, giving him the victory and allowing him to retain the United States Championship. The finish was very similar to what happened at SummerSlam.
