After two UFC stints, Kris Moutinho is taking the gloves off – but not in the retirement sense.
Moutinho (0-0) has signed with BKFC, the promotion recently announced. He's set to debut in bareknuckle at a BKFC Fight Night event Aug. 21 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. as he takes on Michael Hernandez (1-1) in a featherweight bout.
Moutinho, 33, departed the UFC in March after a knockout loss to Malcolm Wellmaker and a unanimous decision defeat to Cristian Quinonez. The stint was his second in the UFC, having also gone 0-2 from late 2021 to early 2022 under the promotion's banner. The first stint most notably included a short-notice debut vs. Sean O'Malley, during which Moutinho gained thousands of fans for his toughness and durability.

Between his second UFC release and BKFC signing, Moutinho fought in a pro MMA bout in Portugal, where he defeated PFL alum Zebenzui Ruiz by unanimous decision. The win brought Moutinho's pro MMA record to 15-8.
Hernandez, 40, pivoted to bareknuckle after compiling an 11-4 pro MMA record that included a one-off in Bellator. He debuted in bareknuckle with a win over Antonio Castillo Jr. in November, but then lost to Peter Peraza in June.
