Cynthia Erivo went viral on Nov. 8 for her reaction with a fan named Clara, who returned the actress' lost hat that was left behind at the 2024 London premiere of Wicked

Erivo later posted an Instagram video of her wearing the hat after a year of not knowing where it had gone

During last year's press run for the film, the actress became known for her impressive collection of hats

Everyone knows that a witch — even an onscreen one — can't fly through life without their hat.

Fans who've been following Cynthia Erivo's red carpet fashion may recall the actress' many hat-topped looks from the Wicked press tour. Although one fan in particular has a closer connection than others.

On Nov. 8, a woman named Clara went viral on TikTok for posting Erivo's reaction to reuniting with the frilly hat she'd lost a year ago after gracing the London premiere of the movie musical, which is getting its highly anticipated sequel, Wicked: For Good, on Nov. 21.

In the clip, which garnered over 1 million likes, the 38-year-old Grammy winner — who plays Elphaba — was clearly in shock as Clara dropped the surprising news, even asking for the precious accessory to be sent back to her.

Not long after, the "Replay" singer finally joined in on the conversation by posting a video of her rewearing the long-lost hat to the Wicked track, "Dancing Through Life."

"We deserve each other," Erivo captioned the post in reference to the song's lyrics, "You deserve each other/ This hat and you."

In a separate TikTok video, Clara explained how she found the hat in the first place. She and a friend, who both live in Paris, were at the London event on Nov. 18, 2024, and had gone back into the theater looking for some friends around 30 minutes after the film ended.

On her way in, Clara noticed that someone had left their hat behind and decided tot take the unique hat home before the staff at the theater could throw it away. It wasn’t until she sent a picture of the accessory to another one of her friends that Clara realized who it actually belonged to.

“I kept the hat for a year and I just wanted to tell her myself and I didn't know how to get a hold of her,” she explained while showing a green and pink Wicked gift bag. “She’s getting the hat back today. I put it in this lovely bag and I'm giving it back.”

As far as hats go, Erivo has plenty of them in her arsenal as it's become her signature look alongside her intricately done nails and shaved look. "This is what I want to look like,” she said to Harper's Bazaar in an interview published on Oct. 28. “I love a heel, I love a nail, I love a jaw, I love a bald head, I love a good outfit. It is legitimately a way of just expressing parts of myself.”

Now that Erivo is reconnected with one of her most prized possessions, her second go-round for the Wicked franchise can only go up from here.

Press for the film kicked off on Nov. 4 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with Erivo, styled by Jason Bolden, in an abs-baring (and some might say, gravity-defying) custom Jean Paul Gaultier gray two-piece featuring a sculpted top and peplum skirt. She followed that appearance with the London premiere at which she wore a daring Prada halter gown.
