Dave Franco was crowned PEOPLE’s Sexiest Cat Dad in October

Speaking to PEOPLE at the premiere of Now You See Me: Now You Don't, he joked, “It's all downhill from here”

Franco also gave an acceptance speech in a conversation with his castmates, thanking his and wife Alison Brie’s past and current cats

Dave Franco is enjoying his current reign as Sexiest Cat Dad.

“I'm very proud. I'm an outspoken cat lover,” the actor, 40, tells PEOPLE at the Nov. 10 world premiere of his new movie Now You See Me: Now You Don't in New York City. On Oct. 23, Franco learned on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he’d been named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Cat Dad in our 2025 Sexiest Man Alive Readers’ Choice Poll.

“What's wild is how many people bring it up,” says Franco with a smile. “Shout out to my cats, Max and Otis, at home.”

He quips, “I've peaked. I've peaked. It's all downhill from here.”

The Regretting You star shares his feline children with Alison Brie, his wife since 2017. Considering the acting and producing duo had a busy year (starring in horror film Together), Franco may be taking a break from screen projects, as he tells PEOPLE, to focus on things like being a sexy cat dad.

“Basically, we're getting through this week of press,” he says of the new Now You See Me, “and then I will disappear for a while. I'm sure people are sick of me, and I will go to the middle of nowhere and climb into a hole.”

Franco also joined his Now You See Me castmates Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Justice Smith, Ariana Greenblatt and Dominic Sessa for a chaotic game of Truth or Dare, PEOPLE-style.

Asked to give an acceptance speech for the honor of 2025’s Sexiest Cat Dad, the actor-producer obliged: “Of course, I have to thank my little girl, Max, and my little boy, Otis.”

But those weren’t the only cats on Franco’s mind; Harry and Arturo “were 18 pounders,” he recalled. “I remember when I was single and I would go on dates and I would tell these women that I had 36 cumulative pounds of cat at home, and then I would never see these women again.”

He concluded, “I want to thank the movie Flow, for changing the narrative of how cats are portrayed in film. They're usually the villains. Flow showed that they can be the heroes, which is why it won the Academy Award, because it told the truth."

Now You See Me: Now You Don't is in theaters Friday, Nov. 14. Franco also stars in Regretting You, in theaters now.
