Alongside his seven kids, Eddie is also dad to child Angel, 18, daughter Izzy, 9, and son Max, 6.
The comedian recently spoke with PEOPLE about his new documentary, where he shared that he considers his family his largest asset. Eddie shares his five adult children with his first wife, Nicole, whom he divorced after 13 years in 2006. He welcomed three children from other relationships and two more with his wife, Butcher.
“It just happened,” Eddie said of how he wound up with such a large brood, ranging in age from 36 to 6.
“I never knew I would have 10 kids, but now it’s the best thing ever. If you can afford that many kids, you should have as many kids as you can afford. That is fun.” But most important, he pointed out, “my children are all decent people. I don’t have one rotten one, and I would like to think that they got some of that from me.”

This past year, the proud dad of 10 watched his son Eric marry fellow comedian Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin, 29. When asked about what makes him the happiest now, Eddie said, “Just being Eddie. I love having my family around, and I love that I’ve been in this amazing business for so long. Coming from super humble beginnings and having this longevity, just to be around and see all the different changes and all that stuff. There’s just so much to be happy about.”
In the same interview, Eddie spoke with PEOPLE about his marriage to Butcher, noting that he prefers to have a quieter life at home.
"I think I'm really simple," he said of what he's like as a partner. "Really simple. You'd have to ask Paige, but I think I'm really easy to figure out."
The comedian went on to joke that he's so simple that Butcher never has to question his whereabouts.
"You always know where I am. Just literally, you could ask Paige. You say, 'Where's Eddie at?' And she could go, 'It's this time, so he's probably in this room, and he's watching such and such.' I'm like that. I'm really easy. I'm a lot like a cat," he said.
