Ethan Hawke is in good company in France.
On Friday, Sept. 4, the 55-year-old husband and father of four stepped out with his wife Ryan Shawhughes and their youngest daughter, Indiana, as he was set to be honored at the Deauville American Film Festival in Deauville, France.
For this year’s annual event, Hawke’s upcoming film, The Weight, was listed as one of the movies set to premiere.
The Padraic McKinley-directed historical survival thriller sees Hawke as Samuel Murphy and Russell Crowe as a ruthless prison warden who oversees the Dead Poets Society alum who has been separated from his daughter after his wife’s death.

Hawke and Shawhughes posed for pictures on the red carpet as their 15-year-old accompanied her parents for her father’s big night.
The couple, who have been married since 2008, are also parents to 18-year-old Clementine Jane Hawke.
He also shares two children — actors Maya Hawke, 28, and Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, 24, — with Uma Thurman, to whom he was married from 1998 to 2005.
Earlier this year, Hawke appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert where he revealed that his younger kids are less impressed with his fame, but think having a Stranger Things star as an older sibling is very cool.
He explained during the January visit that while he was filming his show The Lowdown on location in Oklahoma, that Maya “upstaged” him.

“We shot it down in Tulsa. My wife was a producer on the show. We brought the whole family down there,” Hawke said, referring to his teens, Clementine and Indiana.
The girls attended school in the area and “came to visit me on set,” he continued, “and the director, Sterlin Harjo, says, ‘So, is it hard having a famous dad when you’re at a new school?’ And they were like, ‘It’s hard having a famous sister. Nobody cares about my dad. … My sister’s picture is in the lockers everywhere.’”
Not one to compete with his own flesh and blood, Hawke praised his eldest on the hit Netflix series coming to a successful end.

“A lot of people in America were watching Stranger Things, but not everybody in America was watching their daughter, with their siblings right to their side,” he said on The Late Show. “And so we were invested, and I have to say, hats off.”
He previously told PEOPLE that it wasn’t until his role as a Marvel character in 2022 that his younger children began to take his career seriously.

“My 13-year-old saw the Moon Knight trailer and all of the sudden my being an actor was real to her,” he told PEOPLE in March 2022. “She watched it on her phone, she’s like ‘Dad, this looks really good.’ I mean her eyes just went [wide]; she couldn’t believe it. ‘That’s what the kids at school are talking about.’ So this is the first one that [impressed] her.”
The Weight arrives on Sept. 18.
