Former KISS rocker Vinnie Vincent is selling his latest single for $225-$300

The musician said he understands the "bitching, the moaning, the whining" from fans about price

Vincent said the high price is to "protect my creation"

Former KISS rocker Vinnie Vincent is charging a pretty penny for his latest single – and while he understands the fans' “bitching” and “moaning” over the hefty price, he’s confident he’s making it worth their while.

Vincent, who played guitar with KISS from 1982 to 1984, announced on Facebook earlier this month that he’d be selling his latest single “Ride the Serpent” as a “very limited collection piece,” with a signed sleeve that’s also hand-numbered and titled, for $300.

“I understand the bitching, the moaning, the whining about price, but you must also understand that my situation is as such that my music is so desired that it will be targeted and taken away from me immediately, which I cannot/will not allow,” he wrote in a Facebook comment. “I wish it was not this way, but I’m honored that it is.. It’s a double-edged sword for me, but I sincerely hope that when you think it through you will understand the dilemma I face.”

Vincent, 73, wrote that he’d only be making 500 copies of the single, which is now for sale on his website for $225 for U.S. customers, and $300 for international. The musician (né Vincent Cusano) said the high price was to “protect my creation,” and he’d be “waiting like a hawk” to seize any bootleg copies.

The Vinnie Vincent Invasion rocker explained in another comment that he’d turned off the comments on his posts because of the “whining bitching immature ‘I want it for free babies.’”

“It’s just too tiresome too [sic] deal with this type of imbecile who still unfortunately thinks that someone owes them something. Nobody owes them anything, especially me,” he wrote. “If they want my music they can pay for it or wait a long time because they can get it bootlegged.”

The sale comes months after Vincent’s former KISS bandmate Gene Simmons made headlines for offering up the chance to be his personal assistant and band roadie for a day for $12,000.

“When I was a kid and went to see shows, I was always curious, ‘What’s it like when they’re in a hotel? What’s it like when the stage is set up? What’s it like being onstage when they’re performing and seeing the audience from the stage?’" Simmons explained to the New York Post in March. “I decided, ‘You know what, nobody’s ever done it. Why not open the idea to be my personal roadie for the day?’"
