Guy Fieri has a controversial take about Christmas dinner.
The Tournament of Champions host dished on his holiday opinions from the set of the competition series’ brand-new holiday iteration Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas.
In an Instagram clip shared on Sunday, Nov. 9, the Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives star was asked about the most overrated holiday food and Fieri was quick to answer.

“All the desserts,” he declared. “What is up with that? You know what? Do a great job on your appetizers. Do a fantastic, fantastic job on your dinner and then throw them a bar of chocolate.”
Fieri’s hot takes don’t stop with sweets: He would rather party guests come 15 minutes late rather than early. “You know, when I’ve got that last 15 minutes, when I’m getting things done, I’m in my work mode. I’m getting dinner done. I’m getting things finished out. And I don’t want people coming into the kitchen, picking at stuff and getting in the way and asking a bunch of questions,” the father of two answered.
He continued, explaining that he’s “a real tree guy” but has “evolved” to fake trees and his family opens one gift on Christmas Eve (“Yes, it’s usually pajamas,” he admitted). When it comes to turning on the holiday tunes, Fieri waits until after Thanksgiving.
The Food Network’s newest holiday program has a lot of similarities to the year-round version. Similar to Tournament of Champions, chefs on the festive version fight in a bracket-style competition and are thrown curveballs by the randomizer, a lottery-style machine used on TOC that determines the protein, produce, equipment, cooking style and time set for each cook-off. Plus, Guy’s oldest son Hunter Fieri is still on set for some game time reporting.
But in this six-episode season, the 32 competitors are paired off in teams of two, a touch that is new to the holiday adaptation. Couples like Antonia Lofaso and Alex Guarnaschelli, Maneet Chauhan and Stephanie Izard or Michael Voltaggio and Bryan Voltaggio will work together for a $100,000 cash prize and an additional $50,000 prize to give to a charity of their choice.
Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Food Network.
