Ian McKellen has revealed that the Garden State will be getting a major renovation in Avengers: Doomsday.
The 86-year-old actor recently discussed his experience reprising his role as Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr in the upcoming Marvel film.
"I don't always understand the stories of these movies that I'm in," McKellen said while visiting The Late Show on Wednesday. "But in this one, I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying that Magneto destroys New Jersey."

Raising his hands in the air, he quipped, "I'm sorry about that, New Jersey! My fault."
McKellen then leapt out of his chair to recreate the scene for host Stephen Colbert and his audience.
"I'm standing up pretending to do that," he explained, waving his hands to showcase his superpowers. "And the wind is blowing in my hair, and I'm putting on a fierce look, and I'm trying to be magnetic. And the director over the loud speaker says, 'Ian, look more furious!'"
McKellen said he then tried snarling at the camera, but it just wasn't enough. "He said, 'Shout something!' I said, 'What do I shout?' He said, 'Shout the worst thing you could possibly think of!' So I said, 'Mar-a-lago!'"
Mar-a-lago is, of course, the private residence of President Donald Trump.

After returning to his seat, McKellen asked Colbert, "Will I be allowed back in the country?"
The laughing Colbert wasn't so sure. "No guarantees," he said. "I don't think I’m the right person to ask for that."
McKellen starred as Magneto in the original X-Men trilogy, playing the villainous mutant in 2000's X-Men, 2003's X2: X-Men United, and 2006's X-Men: the Last Stand. He also made appearances in 2013's The Wolverine and 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
McKellen is one of several stars who will reprise their roles in Doomsday. The cast also includes Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops, and Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast.
Fans got their first look at McKellen’s return as Magneto in a Doomsday teaser trailer that dropped last month. "Death comes for us all. It's all I know for sure," Magneto intoned in the clip. "The question isn't, 'Are you prepared to die?' The question is, 'Who will you be when you close your eyes?'"
Avengers: Doomsday explodes into theaters on Dec. 18. Watch McKellen discuss the film — and The Lord of the Rings — in the clip above.
