- Lena Dunham's husband, Luis Felber, had no idea who she was when they met in 2021.

- Felber had never seen her show *Girls* when the couple went on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend.

- Dunham said it turned out to be refreshing because "he was present and interested but not *too* interested."

Lena Dunham has felt pretty famesick over the years, but at least her husband gave her a break from that on their first date.

The Emmy-nominated actress and writer is a very well-known figure thanks to the massive success of her hit HBO dramedy, *Girls*, but when she first met her partner, Luis Felber, he had no idea. During a recent stop on her *Famesick* book tour, Dunham recounted the early days of their relationship, specifically when they went on a blind date.

"The thing that was so amazing about meeting him: He'd never seen *Girls*," Dunham told her friend and former costar Rita Wilson at a recent Q&A in Los Angeles, reports PEOPLE.

Their first date came about when a mutual friend sent Felber a message on Instagram, asking, "Do you think you could bear to eat dinner with this person?" Understanding that she was some sort of public figure but not knowing why, Felber assumed she was famous for another reason.

"He said, 'I thought you might be a curve model,'" Dunham recalled at the event. "I went, 'That is the loveliest thing I've ever heard.'"

She noted that his naïveté made for a refreshing dynamic, as Felber "didn't seem to come with a lot of preconceived ideas" about who Dunham was. "He was present and interested," she said, "but not *too* interested."

The couple met on their blind date in 2021 and then, within months, moved in together. They tied the knot within the year, marrying in an intimate ceremony that September.

"I love to talk about him because he fills me with joy," Dunham said at the Q&A.

Felber, a British-Peruvian musician and composer, spoke to *The New York Times* in 2021 about his relationship with Dunham, recounting how magically well their first date went. "A mutual friend of ours basically set us up," he told the outlet. "The first time we hung out, we didn't stop talking for, like, eight hours."

When the interviewer pointed out the speedy progression of their romance, Felber replied, "I think when you know, you know. I've only been alive for 35 years in this lifetime, and I think it's another archaic thing for guys to hide their feelings. I'm way more into the flow of getting to know the person. And I think Lena's the same, and I think — I'm going to sound cheesy — but when you find your soulmate, you just know."

As for Dunham's work, he admitted at the time that he'd never seen *Girls*, but he also noted that he'd been keeping up with her more recent projects. "When you're an artist, you're living in the present, into the future. You're looking for the next thing. Looking back is a thing we shouldn't really do too much, to be able to move forward with ease," he explained. "But I will watch *Girls* one day, to answer your question. I can see what an impact it's had on people."

He added, "I was at lunch with some old school friends and my friend's sister was really excited about Lena. I asked, 'What did *Girls* make you feel?' She said, 'I feel like it gave me a voice,' and that's amazing. What a beautiful thing to hear about your partner."
