According to an expert, Meghan Markle’s departure from the royal family was inevitable and only a matter of time. The source attributed the former actress’ exit to a culture clash and “ego on both sides,” which ultimately contributed to her and Prince Harrystepping away from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.

In January that year, the couple announced their decision to step back from royal duties before relocating to Montecito, California, where they have since established their life away from the monarchy.

Royal expert Simon Vigar detailed Meghan Markle’s headline-making royal exit from the palace. Vigar explained that Markle’s time at the palace was reportedly difficult due to a “culture clash” with palace aides. The celebrated royal correspondent detailed this in his new book, “The Four Wives of Windsor.”

In his statement to Fox News, Vigar said: “There was a culture clash there. I think it’s a crying shame. It was avoidable, and egos got in the way on both sides. I think she thought that there would be more control over events, public events, than there was….The narrative now is that the British media was always against Harry and Meghan. That is not how I remember it, and many of my colleagues remember it.”

Furthermore, Vigar praised the Sussexes by calling them “great.” He went on to talk about Markle and how she was “brilliant with the crowds” and was an “absolute natural.” Hence, he explained that it is “so sad” that they are not part of the working royals anymore.

The palace announced that Markle was expecting her first child shortly after the couple arrived in Sydney for their royal tour that October. Vigar covered the royal tour and explained how it was one of the first signs of visible cracks in the Duchess’s role as a working royal.

As per the royal expert, Markle wasn’t used to a public life where “everything was micromanaged in a far more controlled environment.” Vigar also quoted an anonymous senior staffer who said: “My overall sense is Meghan realized it was hard work and not that glamorous. It’s not about you.”
