*The Office* was all about the cringe moments.
Costars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey looked back on one of them — that time that Steve Carell's Michael Scott and Kate Flannery's Meredith Palmer shared a lollipop — on Sunday's episode of their rewatch podcast, *Office Ladies*.
The subject came up after a listener asked whether that really happened.
"Guys, I wondered the same thing," Fischer said. "When I watched this scene, there is not cut. It’s a oner-shot of Steve taking the lollipop out of his mouth and handing it to Kate. So we asked Kate about it. And she said they did not rinse it off."
Eww. But that somehow seems on brand for both Meredith and Michael.
In that particular episode, the second of two parts of the season 4 premiere, Meredith was visiting Michael in his hospital room where he was being treated for dehydration. Surprise, surprise, he had prepped the completely wrong way for the ridiculously named event he had organized for Meredith after hitting her with his car: Michael Scott's Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Fun Run Pro Am Race for the Cure.

"She also said," Kinsey explained of Flannery, "Steve improvised that in the moment, and she just went with it."
Fischer laughed.
"I think that's why you see her pause a second," she said. "I think you are watching Kate, the person, decide if she's gonna do this. She's like, 'Am I gonna do this?' Brilliant ending. Good for you, Kate. Way to really go for it on the show."

Fischer added, "She said she got a thrill out of doing her own sort of stunts."**
Kinsey called her "brave."
Both Carell and Flannery were in the original cast of the series about the bumbling manager of a paper company's office in Scranton, Penn., which debuted in 2005. Along with Fischer, Kinsey, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Mindy Kaling, and many others, they were regulars on the show as it became a hit.

Carell left in 2011, while Palmer stayed with the future streaming phenomenon until it concluded its run in 2013.
Since then, cast members have commented on some of the show's more awkward moments and how they wouldn't be acceptable today. In September, Wilson noted a particularly offensive *Office *moment in season 3, episode 10, "A Benihana Christmas."
"It's a show based around clueless, insensitive, racist, sexist people that kind of mirrors the United States in a lot of ways," Wilson said.**
