Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s next projects on Netflix are coming up quickly. On December 3, the With Love, Meghan holiday special premieres, and the following week, on December 9, Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within will drop.
The latter is a short documentary film about the organization Masaka KidsAfricana, an orphanage in the Masaka region of Uganda. “Masaka Kids Africana takes viewers beyond the viral videos to reveal a vibrant, one-of-a-kind community where orphaned children transform hardship into joy, dancing their way toward healing, belonging, and the promise of a brighter future,” reads a description from the streamer. The trailer dropped this week:
Ahead of the premiere, Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation made a $50,000 donation to Masaka Kids via the organization’s GoFundMe. “At Masaka Kids Africana, we provide love, shelter, education, and hope. Through music and dance, our children share their joy and resilience with the world — showing that no matter where you come from, your dreams are valid and your spirit can shine bright,” founder Suuna Hassan wrote on the fundraising page. “We’re now raising funds to support our home’s essential needs — to feed, educate, and care for our children every day.” T&C understands that the Sussexes are hoping their donation will inspire others to support the organization.
In August, Archewell Productions announced a new deal with Netflix. “We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand,” Meghan said at the time. “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
At the time of the new Netflix deal, the Masaka Kids documentary was announced, with a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan telling The Telegraph, “They would watch the [Masaka kids] videos regularly with Archie at home. So, they were already admirers of the organization before the film project came to them in 2023.”
