Prince William Revealed What Prince George Is Really Like “Behind Closed Doors”

Prince William once shared that Prince George is “completely different” when he’s “behind closed doors.”
William spoke about his kids during an engagement in September 2025, when he and wife Kate Middleton visited a local Women’s Institute to pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth.
The Prince of Wales also revealed insight into Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte’s dynamic.
The royal children may not always be quite as well-behaved as they appear in the public eye, according to dad Prince William. During an engagement in September 2025, the Prince of Wales shed rare insight into what his three kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are like at home.
“When George is behind closed doors, it’s completely different,” William said while visiting a local Women’s Institute with wife Kate Middleton. “George just knows how to behave.”
As he enjoyed tea and conversation with several WI members, who are part of the largest women’s organization in the U.K., the dad-of-three also described Prince Louis as a “character,” sharing that he “knows how to run his sister [Princess Charlotte] around.” (That elicited a laugh from William’s table mates.)

Referring to brothers George and Louis, William added, “There are five years between them. You’ll see the difference. They’re not the same.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the organization’s location near their Adelaide Cottage home in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth, who served as WI’s president from 2003 until her death on September 8, 2022. For the engagement, the future queen wore a gray plaid Alessandra Rich dress, gray pumps, and Kiki McDonough earrings that have been a staple in her jewelry box for some time.

On their Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account, William and Kate said that their visit to WI today was a “Very special opportunity to hear from members today about the importance of The Late Queen’s involvement in the organization and meet those who met with her during her reign.”
George recently kicked off his first day at Eton College, following in his father’s footsteps, while Charlotte and Louis began their school year at the Lambrook School.
