Princess Diana's eerie two word comment just months before her tragic car crash death

Just two months before her tragic passing, Princess Diana made an eerily prophetic remark, according to her brother, Earl Charles Spencer.

Diana died after sustaining severe internal injuries in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997, with her funeral taking place six days later at Westminster Abbey in London. Nearly three decades on, her younger brother Earl Spencer has released a memoir titled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.

The book has garnered significant media attention since its release on September 22. Within its pages, Earl Spencer makes several startling allegations, among them a claim that King Charles told Diana's younger brother, "we'll forget her soon enough."

In one chapter of the book, Earl Spencer wrote that a family member had sent Diana flowers for her 36th birthday on July 1, 1997. In her thank-you letter, she wrote, "I've been so lucky! My house is so full of gorgeous flowers that the place looks like a funeral parlor!"

The memoir also recounts Earl Spencer's chance encounter with Diana at London's Tate Gallery shortly after her birthday. He asked his older sister if she had "had a happy birthday," confirmed that his gift had arrived safely, and embraced her before they each returned to their separate tables to dine.

He tragically recalled, "We had only that brief chat, never to see each other again." Earl Spencer disclosed that the memoir's contents were kept from his family, including Prince William and Prince Harry.

His spokesperson confirmed that Earl Spencer's nephews learned about the book at the same time as the media. He revealed on ITV's Lorraine that he "thought it would be easier" if the contents of Swan Song stayed confidential before its release. He only discussed it with his wife.

He added, "I decided to take full responsibility for what I wanted to share, and I thought it would be easier for my family not to be told, 'Why didn't you get him to say this?' or 'Why did you not get that taken out?'

"So I told both William and Harry, and my sisters, earlier on the day that it was released, as a piece of news that the book was coming out. That was my responsibility - I was writing as a brother."

The Princess of Wales was killed in a car crash in central Paris along with her close friend Dodi Fayed. Early on August 31, the 36-year-old Princess and Fayed were in a Mercedes car, which went out of control at high speed as it entered an underground tunnel in the French capital.

Fayed, the 41-year-old son of Harrods owner Mohammed Al Fayed, and the car's driver died instantly. The Princess was taken from the wreckage and rushed to the Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital in south-east Paris.

First medical reports indicated that she was suffering from a concussion, a broken arm, and cuts to her thighs. It later emerged that the Princess had suffered massive chest injuries. At 4.53 a.m. it was announced that the Princess had died.

The official news that Diana had passed away was announced outside the hospital by French Interior Minister Jean-Pierre Chevenement. Foreign Secretary Robin Cook confirmed her death in a statement on the tarmac at Manila military airport in the Philippines.

"I am greatly shocked by this news. Our first thoughts must be with her children and family at this time of immense loss to them," he said. The 36-year-old princess died at 4 a.m. local time after going into cardiac arrest, doctors told a hospital news conference.

On the Monday afternoon, the French authorities announced that the driver of the Mercedes had well over the legal level of alcohol in his blood.
