Well, the Irwin family has fans in their feels yet again. Robert Irwin took a break from Dancing With the Stars rehearsals to share a touching post on Instagram on Sunday, November 9, and it’s one that has hearts melting around the world.
The 21-year-old wildlife conservationist and TV personality revealed the remarkable connection he still shares with his late father, the legendary Steve Irwin. Alongside a side-by-side video showing both father and son working with crocodiles, Robert wrote, “Then and now. My dad and I feeding our same crocodiles, 19 years apart. If there’s one place I feel closest to my dad, it’s when I’m at @australiazoo working with the very crocs that he worked with and rescued.”
The post features archival footage of Steve Irwin fearlessly feeding crocodiles at the Australia Zoo, seamlessly intercut with recent clips of Robert doing the same — standing in nearly the same spot, feeding the same reptiles, nearly two decades later. It’s an emotional full-circle moment that beautifully captures the Irwin family’s enduring legacy.

A Legacy That Lives On
It didn’t take long for fans to flood Robert’s comment section with emotional reactions. Many noted not only the uncanny resemblance between Robert and Steve, but also the heart and passion that connects them both to wildlife.
“Steve literally went copy/paste with you,” one fan wrote. “I just know he’s so proud of you.” Another added, “The crocs probably know everything and love that you’re also carrying on dad’s legacy… THE CROCS ARE PROUD OF YOUUUU.”
Others reflected on how the Irwins’ story has touched their own lives. “I grew up watching your dad — his show was one of my own dad’s favorites,” one person shared. “He passed away in 2005, but every time I see your family, I feel a little closer to him. Watching you all carry on his legacy with such heart and purpose means more than words can say. Absolutely wholesome.”
Another fan echoed the sentiment, writing, “Your dad was one of THE greatest people to ever walk this Earth; and it would be a much better place if there were more souls like him.”

'You Are Your Father’s Son'
For longtime Crocodile Hunter fans, the video was more than just nostalgia — it was a moving reminder that Steve Irwin’s legacy lives on through his son’s passion and purpose. “He would be with you every time you’re there,” one follower commented. “An icon that is missed every day.”
“That’s when we see him shining through you the most,” another fan added. “That and when you’re talking about saving animals and their homes.”
Others kept it simple but heartfelt with comments like, “Awesome video. You are your father’s son!!” and “Thank you for sharing this legend with us and watching you is amazing. He is with you.”
As one fan perfectly summed up: “Crikey!! He is so missed! I loved watching him all those years!!”
While Steve Irwin’s life was tragically cut short in 2006, his impact (and the crocodiles he cared for) continue to thrive at the Australia Zoo under the Irwin family's care. And if there’s one thing his latest post makes clear, it’s that the bond between father and son is still as strong as ever — even 19 years later.
