After Scrubs wrapped in 2010, a reboot of the medical sitcom was ordered in July 2025
Stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke will reprise their original roles
The reboot premieres on Feb. 25 on ABC
Zach Braff and Donald Faison are making their return to Sacred Heart Hospital, more than 15 years after the series ended in 2010.
A reboot of the beloved sitcom — starring Braff, Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley — was officially ordered in July 2025, and now, it's set to premiere in February 2026.
During a November 2025 conversation with PEOPLE, Braff and Faison teased how they think the reboot will be received by a whole new generation.
"There's a very young writers staff along with some of the brilliant original writers on Scrubs, and I think this young, very diverse group of writers will help us crack that case," Braff said, while Faison added that "a lot of the story still holds up."
"You're still following your favorite doctors, your heroes to some people," Faison continued. "Regardless of what's happened from season 1 through 9, the core story is still there and people really want to see that."
From the premiere to the plot, here's everything to know about the Scrubs reboot.

The reboot sees John "J.D." Dorian (Braff) and Christopher Turk (Faison) back in their scrubs for the first time in years, as they discover that while medicine — and a new generation of interns — has evolved, their bromance has "stood the test of time," according to the official logline.
"Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way," the logline continues.
The first official teaser, which was shared on Nov. 25, sees J.D. return to the Sacred Heart halls, yelling, "I'm back, baby!"
Although the new interns don't know who he is, J.D. says it's "good to be back."
Which original cast members are coming back for the Scrubs reboot?
Bill Lawrence, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Zach Braff, Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley.

In addition to Braff returning as J.D. and Faison as Dr. Turk, Chalke will reprise her role as Dr. Elliot Reid (who was also J.D.'s love interest!).
Reyes, who portrayed head nurse — and Turk's love interest — Carla Espinosa, is also slated to return to the reboot, as is McGinley, who played J.D.'s mentor Dr. Perry Cox.
They will again be joined by Robert Maschio and Phill Lewis, who are also slated to return in their respective roles as Dr. Todd Quinlan and Hooch.
Braff told PEOPLE that while not everyone will be in all episodes because of "scheduling," it is their "hope and goal that everyone will be back for some." The actor also shared that he will be directing the pilot episode, while Faison is an executive producer.
Missing from the cast are fan favorites Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) and The Janitor (Neil Flynn). But Braff isn't ruling out bringing them back.
"The true answer is if we’re blessed to have a second season, absolutely. And the real answer for season 1 is we’re not fully sure yet. Episodes 8 and 9 of the nine-episode order are still being written. They both are interested in doing it," he told Esquire in January 2026.
He continued, saying, "But do we have the bandwidth in the first nine to get to it all and service a story that would be worthy of Ken and Neil? That might come true. At this point, I can’t tell you the answer, but most definitely, if we are lucky enough to get a season 2, that’s something we want to do."
