Seth Meyers had plenty to say about Donald Trump on Wednesday, hours after lawmakers released emails in which convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein mentioned the president.

Epstein, who died by suicide while in federal custody in 2019, alleged in the documents that Trump "spent hours at my house" with one of his victims and "knew about the girls."

On *Late Night with Seth Meyers*, the host was bewildered by a clip of news coverage in which a journalist said that the emails "raise new questions about Trump's ties to Epstein."

"They raise new questions?" Meyers said doubtfully. "To me it sounds like they answer old questions. I'm no detective, but if one of the questions was, 'Did Trump know about the girls?' And you find an email from Jeffrey Epstein that says, 'Trump knew about the girls,' that sounds pretty damning."

Meyers compared it to law enforcement investigating a murder suspect and, in their search of the suspect's home, they find a shoebox labeled, "Murder weapon inside" on the top. Meanwhile, the side says, "'Yes, that murder.'"

"And then you ask the suspect where they were on the night of the murder," Meyers continued, "and they say —" he then cut to Trump giving a Fox News interview in which he said, "different places."

"You'd be like, 'Chief, I think we got 'em,'" Meyers said.

Epstein also mentioned Trump as "that dog that hasn't barked," which Meyers poked fun at.

"Of course, that was in 2011," he noted. "Since then, all Trump has done is bark. Oh, Jeffrey, had you only lived to hear him bark! One would say he even growls, I mean, look at him." Meyers said Trump "looks like he should be out on the White House lawn snarling at a mailman."

The Trump administration has been under increasing pressure, from Democrats and Republicans, to release its files related to Epstein, with whom Trump was friends in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Speaking about the new emails, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said they "prove absolutely nothing, other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong."

Trump himself responded on social media: "The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they'll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they've done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects. Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap."
