Star Wars has more coming than fans think. A new rumor claims three additional movies are in development beyond what’s already announced. The report hints Lucasfilm is exploring its usual TV approach for the reported films.

According to online scooper @MyTimeToShineH, Lucasfilm is working on two 2D animated and one CGI Star Wars movies. The post doesn’t mention their names, release dates, or cast.

It is particularly notable because the franchise has mostly used animation for its TV projects and specials. This is only a rumor for now, so fans should treat it accordingly. Lucasfilm hasn’t officially announced any such films.

What other Star Wars movies are currently in development?

Lucasfilm has a big slate of movies currently under development, including one arriving next year. Directed by Shawn Levy, Star Wars: Starfighter is set to release on May 28, 2027. The movie picks up five years after The Rise of Skywalker with Ryan Gosling in the lead.

Another major project is Simon Kinberg‘s new Star Wars trilogy. Jon Watts has been attached to helm the first title from Kinberg’s script. The movie is expected to continue the Skywalker Saga, with Daisy Ridley’s Rey reportedly returning in some capacity.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is also directing a separate Rey movie starring Daisy Ridley. The film takes place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and follows Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order.

Speaking of The Mandoverse, it currently includes The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Dave Filoni has been involved with each project in various capacities. A second season of Ahsoka is also in development, with Filoni working on a movie that would connect these storylines.

Other in-development projects include Taika Waititi and James Mangold’s untitled movies.
