Supergirl in 'Krypto Saves the Day' short "Coastal Catastrophe".
DC Studios/Warner Bros. Animation
"More Krypto? Absolutely," Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, told EW in a prepared statement. "These first shorts gave our artists a creative playground to tell fun, charming stories as we explore new formats and distribution models for some of our most popular characters. And honestly — who wouldn’t want to spend their day animating a super cute dog? We've loved the fan response to *Krypto Saves the Day* and can't wait to keep building with our partners at DC."
Season 1 of *Krypto Saves the Day* kicked off in 2025 with three kid-friendly animated shorts: "School Bus Scuffle" in August, "Halloween Havoc" in October, and "Package Pandemonium" in November. The first episode was also included among the bonus materials on the home release for *Superman*, in which the DCU version of the super-powered dog plays a prominent role.

While DC Studios continues to beef up its interconnected superhero universe on the big and small screens, *Krypto Saves the Day* exists outside of that canon.
Supergirl's presence in "Coastal Catastrophe" also aligns with the character's return to movie theaters. Milly Alcock, known for playing younger Rhaenyra Targaryen on *House of the Dragon*, transforms into Superman's cousin from Krypton in this summer's *Supergirl*, directed by Craig Gillespie.

The film, set for release on June 26, is inspired by the *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* comic arc from writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely. The story involves a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), who tracks down Kara with a desperate plea. Supergirl is determined to drown out her past trauma with booze and parties on distant planets, but Ruthye seeks her aid in bringing the brute who killed her family, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts), to justice.
*Supergirl *marks Jason Momoa's debut as bounty hunter Lobo, and puts Krypto in spotlight once more: When Krem poisons her dog, Supergirl has just three days to retrieve the antidote.
