The Season 3 finale claimed several key characters during the Battle of Tumbleton and its aftermath:

Ormund fell after Roderick stabbed him during brutal hand-to-hand combat on the battlements. Silverwing’s dragonfire then consumed both Ormund and Roderick in a single devastating pass. Rhaenyra ordered Ser Alyn of Hull to kill the High Septon after he refused to anoint her as queen.
Alyn hesitated before carrying out the order, visibly conflicted about slaying an unarmed holy man. Kat died off-screen during the battle as Targaryen forces raided homes throughout Tumbleton searching for Hightower soldiers.
Why did Helaena kill herself in House of the Dragon Season 3?
Helaena jumped from her window in the Red Keep after weeks of captivity and steadily declining mental health. Mysaria warned her before leaving that Rhaenyra would never release her and that her unborn child would become a political pawn. Rhaenyra had also ordered guards to force-feed Helaena after her hunger strike, removing any remaining sense of bodily autonomy.

Emma D’Arcy said at a press conference, “Her death condemns Rhaenyra to the path she’s chosen. There’s no way back after that” (via Variety). Helaena left behind a finished tapestry depicting her own fall alongside a crowned Rhaenyra on the Iron Throne, surrounded by flames, dragons, and grasping hands. The tapestry served as her final prophecy, stitched entirely through her own hand rather than spoken aloud.
Is Daeron Targaryen alive?
The finale left Prince Daeron Targaryen’s fate deliberately ambiguous after the destruction at Tumbleton. Ser Gwayne Hightower searched for him in the battle’s aftermath, but the show never confirmed his death on screen.
His dragon Tessarion appeared to fly away from the devastation before Silverwing’s fire consumed the town. Ryan Condal confirmed at a press conference that Aegon’s broader plan involves reuniting with both brothers and marching on King’s Landing.
The fourth and final season of House of the Dragon currently targets a 2028 release.
