Whoopi Goldberg very much did not want reigning NBA champion and New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson to answer *The View* cohost Ana Navarro's question on their talk show.

The EGOT-winning actress welcomed Brunson to the show for an interview on Monday morning, though she subsequently cut off Navarro's question to the NBA Knicks player after the latter spent a lengthy segment teeing up an inquiry that was submitted by her friend, former Detroit Pistons player Isiah Thomas.

"I really know nothing about basketball, so I can't ask you basketball questions," Navarro told Brunson. "One of my best friends is Isiah Thomas, the former Detroit Pistons who won back-to-back NBA championships in '89 and '90. Yesterday, I was talking to him and I said please, what can I ask that I don't sound dumb?"

Navarro went on to highlight Brunson and Thomas' similarities in the run-up to their respective NBA legacies.

"First, he wants you to know how proud he, how much he love you, how much he respects you, and he was telling me about how parallel your careers have been, how people told him he was too small, that you all weren't fit to be champions, and then you both went on to win high school championship, college championship, NBA championship, be MVPs, be captains of your team," Navarro said. "You both were point guards, you both wore No. 11. So, he asked me to ask you this: Are you going to be able to do the other thing and do back-to-back championships?"

The audience applauded as Brunson lowered his head, smiling, while a wide shot showed Goldberg shaking her head before he could answer.

"I'm going to stop him from answering that question, because we're living in the right now," Goldberg said. "This is what happened to us today, and you just have to wait and see."

Navarro attempted to salvage the moment by telling him, "Alright, well, tell me in the break," to which Goldberg replied, "We've got to go, baby."

The camera then showed Navarro picking up her mug and side-eyeing Goldberg after the exchange, which prompted Goldberg to remark, "Girl!" as she attempted to throw the show to a commercial break.
