- Jaime King and her 10-year-old Leo did not attend Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce on July 3.
- King and Swift forged a close friendship after meeting at a Golden Globes party in 2014, and Swift became Leo’s godmother.
- “Being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances,” a rep for King said.
Here’s a toast to Taylor Swift’s real friends — they don’t care about the he said, she said.
Noted former Swift bestie Jaime King was among the more notable no-show’s at the singer’s wedding to footballer Travis Kelce, which took place at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on July 3. Plenty of others who once held posts in the Swift-Kelce inner circle also found themselves hatching other plans for the holiday weekend, like Swift pals Miles and Keleigh Teller and Kelce chum Will Compton.
But King has a bond with Swift that endures regardless of their level of closeness that makes her absence all the more glaring: Swift is the godmother of King’s 10-year-old son, Leo.

On Wednesday, a representative for the *Hart of Dixie *actress finally spoke out about the rumors circulating around her wedding attendance.
“The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames’s godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances,” King’s publicist, Jane Owen, told Page Six.

Owen continued, “Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration, but he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce’s marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break.”

Swift and King first met at a Golden Globes party in 2014. Their friendship grew close enough, fast enough that the actress asked Swift to act as the godmother to her son with ex-husband Kyle Newman, Leo, who was born 2015.
“It wasn’t because it was this person and the name. It was really because of her morals and her values, the way that she treats people and how hardworking she is, her family and how close she is to them,” King told PEOPLE at the time. ”I see what she gives out there to her fans and to her family. That’s the kind of person I want to be the guide and the spiritual protector of my child.”
