Hallmark fan favorite Erin Krakow weighed in on if Lori Loughlin will return to When Calls the Heart, revealing she would love to see her former co-star back on the show following her exit in 2019.
While speaking to Us Weekly in an interview published on Friday, November 7, Krakow, 41, was asked if the show was “any closer” to seeing Loughlin’s character, Abigail Stanton, return. “I sure hope so," Krakow, who stars as Elizabeth Thatcher, responded.
“I love Lori Loughlin, and I love the character she created, Abigail Stanton,” Krakow continued.
She went on to admit that the possibility of Loughlin returning to the show is “something I’ve been hoping for for years and years.” Krakow continued, “I’m very much a fan of hers and a friend of hers, so I really hope that it’s happening.”
Loughlin left the show after she cut ties with Hallmark in March 2019 following her arrest for her alleged part in the infamous college admissions scandal.
At the time, Loughlin and her then-husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, as well as money laundering. The couple faced charges after they paid for their daughters, Bella, 27, and Olivia Jade, 26, to be admitted to the University of Southern California as crew recruits.
The former couple both pleaded guilty in May 2020 to charges of wire and mail fraud. Loughlin served two months in jail, while Giannulli, 62, served a five month sentence.
Four years after Giannulli was released from prison, it was reported that the couple called it quits after nearly 28 years of marriage.
Krakow isn't the first person involved in When Calls the Heart to express interest in having Loughlin return. Back in 2023, the show's co-creator Brian Bird reflected on her future on the show while appearing on the "Heart to Hearties" podcast.
"Well, this is a tricky question and what I can say is that there are good conversations happening," he said when asked about Loughlin's potential return. "We can't guarantee anything, but there are good conversations happening around this topic."
Bird, 68, then implied he and Loughlin were still in touch by sharing she was "doing really good."
"She's assured us that she has found some peace and she's made it through her ordeal, her and her husband's ordeal, and she's in a much better place than she was," he said.

"Our attitude always has been you know as the producing team around the writing team around When Calls the Heart that what better place for second chances than Hope Valley," he added. "And so in theory, it should work, right? But again, can't can't fully promise it but we're working on it."
After Bird got fans hopes up, Hallmark issued a statement to People insisting Loughlin wasn't coming back to the show at the time. "Hallmark Media is not in talks with Lori Loughlin about reprising her role as Abigail on When Calls the Heart," the network said.
